What I learned in June

1.   I was reminded of how amazing God is.
June marks a year since my now 17 year old cousin from Tennessee was in a horrible car accident. She was in an induced coma for over a month due to swelling on the brain. The doctors didn't think she was going to make it; but God had a different plan. I am beyond grateful for all the prayer warriors #pray4jay all over the United States and world that continue to pray for her.  She stayed in the ICU in Jackson, Mississippi until she was flown to Vanderbilt in Nashville for her rehab. She has come a long way.  She may not have her sense of smell or taste but we have her back. She is about to start her senior year this fall. God is good all the time----All the time God is good.

2. It's OK to let the kids can stay up later since it summer #makingmemories.
Even  though I still have to go to work at the same time every morning.. I have been letting the kids stay up later some nights of the week. The other night we drove down to Sonic for a banana split; my youngest daughter thought this was the best idea ever. This brought up some fond memories of sharing banana splits with my mom.

3. How nice it is to take a Vacation Day from work to spend it with the girls.
This was the first year I have gotten 2 weeks vacation at my workplace. It's so nice to go somewhere with them and avoid the crowds.

4. I learned how nice it is to go the pool without my kids.
My girls go to their dad's house every other weekend. Even when they are there and my daughter has a game I still show up for her. I forgot how amazing it is to have a Saturday with no plans. It was so relaxing to sit by the pool with a friend and enjoy the hot summer day in Texas.
