Simply Tuesday {Review and Giveaway!}

Our obsession with bigger and faster is spinning us out of control -Emily P. Freeman

I usually breeze through books in several hours, not this one. It took me over a month to read it. It caused me to slow down and really take in all her beautifully written words.

In her book Emily says, "Small is an invitation to participate in something greater than ourselves. Ask God to give  us courage to sit on a bench and listen to the secrets small things have to teach us."

I am eager to slow down and live like each day is a Tuesday. It's just an ordinary day of the week, nothing exciting happens on a Tuesday. Life happens in the small moments on a day like this. I want more of these days. Days where I slow down and enjoy what God has provided for me and enjoy my children instead of getting lost in the hustle of the day. I want those fast moments to be few and far between.

Then I made it to Chapter 7 "Community and Competition" and I re-read these words several times and let them sink in.

"Sometimes when I think I'm waiting on God I wonder if he's actually waiting on me."

There are some days where I sit around thinking God where are you? I am waiting on you God to answer my prayer or point me in the right direction.  Emily is right, there are times when he is waiting on me.  Maybe he already answered my prayer but that wasn't the answer I wanted to hear so He is waiting on me to realize this.

Tuesday Kind of People

"We all will have insecurities no matter where our feet take us. But we are continuing to walk to new places even though sometimes we find things we don't like. The benches we are invited to sit on with others may not always lead us to the security we long for. Sometimes they will simply provide us a safe-place to feel insecure."

I have found my Simply Tuesday kind of people, my community. It's those of you who stop by to read my blog and my close friends who always offer me encouragement and support. I am still learning each day how to take a step back and appreciate the small moments. I invite you all to my bench, to take a minute to stop and live in the small moments.

Here are some of my favorite small Tuesday moments.

Watching my daughters read to each other

Enjoying a good book when the house is quite

Going out to dinner with friends for some much needed girl time

Those quite moments when I am soaking in God's word.
