The call to serve

God calls us to serve others. 

"It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others." Ephesians 2:10

He doesn’t call us all to serve the same way. He provides us each with gifts to use to bless/serve others.  God always blesses His people when they are faithful in their service.  Our blessings/service to others will come back on us.  

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10

Over the years my daughters and I have served others in many different ways.  I am trying to instill in my daughters the importance of volunteering, serving, and giving.  I want to teach them to be givers. It’s hard being a single mom and working full-time to fit in serving between our busy summer schedule, sports, and school during the year. Around the holidays it’s easy to be consistent with serving, there are always different events with our church and local missions to get involved in. It is the in between times that I find it hard to be intentional about serving. This year my “Yes” is being more intentional and making the time to serve others more.

"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
